In a world
where churches are manipulative

WE WANT TO BE HONEST ABOUT OUR MONEY

How we spend our money is not simply a matter of serving the Kingdom of Heaven. It's also a matter of honoring the hard earned gift you've given us by using it well. Of course we could just say, "hey ya'll, we're using it well;" but that would mean nothing. So here's a breakdown of every penny we spend, and what it goes to. Every bill we pay can be broken down as going into one or more of four main categories

Worship

The worship of Jesus is at the heart of our community. This category of expenses includes anything that contributes to our two weekly gatherings of worship. Think of how much electricity, how much of our pastor's salary, how much of our administration, etc. goes into putting on several hours of worship per week.

Outreach

This category reflects any expense we incur that goes into caring for others. This includes all Wednesday evening meals, feminine hygiene supplies, and the costs associated with doing all the things that we do for our community. This is a tricky one because we also consider those we serve part of our family.

Spiritual formation

Spiritual Formation is a growing dimension at New Story. It's the part of our organization where we devote time, energy, and money to helping one another get better. We pay for Bible Studies, Bibles, and many other resources.

Administration

We love our administrative staff; but it's not always the sexiest thing to pay for. None-the-less, the business and administration of the church is a hard job and is necessary to making sure all of our financial safeguards, processes, and systems are stewarded well.

Why we give.

There are a lot of reasons we give: to help those who need our help, to help us keep perspective on what's most important (hot take: it's not money), and we give as a form of worship; however one of the biggest reasons we give to New Story is because it's our home. It's our family, and part of our commitment to one another is to support one another.
